The Resort Village of Wakaw Lake is located along #41 Highway south of the town of Wakaw. It is commonly called Poplar Beach. It is the only incorporated Resort Village along Wakaw Lake.

There are about 100 lake front cottages with about another 50 along the back row. In order to keep the lake from over used the Resort Village Council has taken the stand of not expanding its boundaries at this time.

We have a new Council as of 2009. The Mayor is Maurice Rivard from Vonda. He is a retired postmaster who now can enjoy his family and part time farming when he is not at the lake. The deputy mayor is James Lucas. He is a retired teacher who lives full time at the lake. He enjoys spending time on the lake and hunting in the fall. Dave Galbraith is second member of Council. He lives in the town of Wakaw and has a private business to fill his time when not helping out at the lake. Another councilor is Linton Davenport who is working for the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. He spends all seasons at the lake enjoying water craft and relaxing between duties of council and work.

Our final member of Council is Craig Kihn who lives in Prince Albert where he works as a firefighter. He and his young family spend most of their summer at the lake relaxing away from work. As you can see you have a mixture of backgrounds to help govern your community to the best of their ability.

The new village office has recently been purchased in the town of Wakaw. It will hopefully give the cottage owners a place to pay resort related bills and bring their concerns to council. This office is open Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Thursday afternoons from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The Village Administrator is Helen Martinka from St Benedict. She and her husband farm in that area.
